Soccer has been part of Patrick Gordon's life since he was five. From playing throughout his childhood and college to coaching and continuing to play today, the game has taught him persistence, confidence, and how to handle adversity. Working through injuries and being told he was too small to play goalkeeper taught Patrick to believe in himself, focus on what he could control, and keep going when things got difficult.

Those experiences influence how Patrick coaches today. His goal is for players to leave the field feeling challenged, supported, and excited to come back each week. He believes players develop best when expectations are clear, effort is valued, and mistakes are treated as opportunities to learn. Above all, he wants players to recognize their potential and develop the confidence to keep trying.

For Patrick, the people are what make Houston Surf special. He loves the opportunity to teach and learn alongside people who care about helping young players grow. Seeing something click for a player, whether they master a skill or find the courage to try something new, and building relationships with players and their families are what give his work meaning.

Career Highlights: 

• 6 + years of coaching experience with U8–U10 players across Colorado, Austin, and Houston.

• Earned First Team All-District honors 2X in high school.

• Recognized as the University of Colorado Boulder club soccer team’s Freshman of the Year.

• Won a Region V championship and competed in a national championship final with CU Boulder club soccer.
